Notation conventions in Etymological Dictionary
* – The asterisk sign indicates forms that are not registered in dictionaries but reconstructed by linguists.
< – The source of loan, origin is specified, e. g. mollusque < molluscum: the word mollusque originates from the word molluscum.
> – The result of word transformation is specified, e. g. бьчела > пчела: the word бьчела was transformed to пчела.
